Farewell to MBA, BBA & BCA Students of
Omkarananda Institute of
Management & Technology Omkarananda Nagar 15th April
2008
It was a grand and fantastic cultural
extravaganza by the students of MBA, BBA and BCA on the eve of
bidding farewell and good wishes to the final year students with
motto "we part to meet again".
Great preparations were made
quite in advance for this cultural show in honour of the senior
students who have completed their courses of study at the
Institute.
A grand, majestic, fantastic invitation
card/album was prepared to invite the Chief Guest, Guests of
Honour, faculty and senior students. The unique invitation folder
was itself bespeaking of the grandeur and excitement of the
function with its novelty and creativity and the style of
presentation.
A group of student organizers with Principal
I.D. Joshi visited the Ashram and invited H.H. Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj to grace the occasion and bless the
students.
They
presented the beautiful invitation folder (album) to Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji, President Omkarananda Ashram, Kumari
Somashekhari, Secretary, and Swami Satchidanandaji, Treasurer, and
requested them to grace the occasion. Swamiji was overwhelmed with
joy to see this wonderful invitation card and consented to be the
Chief Guest.
The great day came bringing all excitement
and exaltations among the students.
Ms. Swati Goswami and
Varun Jain anchored the programme and chalked out every minute
detail. The Chief Guest was warmly welcomed at the gate with
traditional Vedic ritual, by applying sacred Tilak and presenting
bouquets of flowers as a mark of honour and reverence. Director
S.N. Banerjee, faculty and students escorted the Chief Guest Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj, Kumari Somashekhari to the Main
Pandal, which was elegantly and splendidly decorated with flowers,
balloons etc.
Miss
Swati Goswami welcomed the Chief Guest Swami Vishveshwaranandaji
with prayers to Swami Omkaranandaji, the Founder of the Institute,
while Varun Jain spoke at length about the Institute and its
programmes.
Then Dr. S.N. Banerjee, Director, delivered
his welcome address, and expressed his heartfelt joy and gratitude
to President Swamiji for sparing his valuable time to bless the
students and faculty in the Institute. He further presented the
annual report of the Institute. He requested Swamiji, the Chief
Guest, to give his blessings to our aspiring young Managers, who
are now entering a new phase of life.
Overwhelmed
with great joy and exaltation, Swami Vishveshwaranandaji gave his
heartiest good wishes and blessings to the students and called
upon them to be disciplined, regular and sincere, while imbibing
the great Vedic spiritual values of India.
He told the
students that they are fortunate to be born in India, which has
rich spiritual traditions and culture, and that it is indeed a
great opportunity for them to develop their personality in this
Institute as business leaders and managers, based on spiritual
culture and ethics of our ancient culture. He further wished
success in life to all of them.
The
Guest of Honour, Kumari Somashekhari, had some kind words for all
the students. She highlighted the importance of a clean and
hygienic society for our daily life. She was full of praise for
the Vedic culture and tradition, which is of highest standards in
terms of human development in this era of civilization.
This function was a wonderful and fantastic opportunity for the
students to express and reveal their potential and talents through
various cultural performances -
dance,
mono play, solo dance, group dance, folk songs and folk dance and
above all, ramp show.
Our "Would-be-Managers", Leaders,
while walking on the grand ramp show, revealed their personality.
Their gait, gestures, eye movements, sparkling with full
confidence, seemed to be conveying to us that while walking over
the ramp they are now ready to enter into bigger challenges of the
world with full confidence and knowledge and zeal, to the
satisfaction of all of us, that we could groom their personality
as successful Managers, Entrepreneurs, in the world.
Seeing
the performances of the students, Swamiji once again rose from his
seat in the dais and thanked the students, appreciated their
talents and wished them all success and reminded them that "we
part to meet again".
The students too thanked Swamiji for
his blessings and good wishes and felt highly inspired to do their
best in life, to follow the great teachings of Gurudev Swami
Omkarananda, i.e. to "think like a
Genius, work like a Giant and live like a Saint."
The other dignitaries that spoke on this occasion were Shri
Mahveer Singh Negi, Secretary OIMT, Shri I. D. Joshi, Principal,
Shri Pankaj Bijalwan, Dean, Shri Vikram Kapoor, Senior lecturer,
Dr. D.S. Chaubey, Professor and all faculty members who wished the
outgoing students all success in life.

Mahakala-Bhairava Mandal Utsava
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas

Mandal
Utsava for Lord Mahakala-Bhairava was held on 19th April 2008, in
Mahakala-Bhairava Temple, located in the Omkarananda Ashram
Himalayas premises, Muni-ki-reti, Rishikesh. This Utsava is
celebrated after 45 days of the Pranapratishtha (Installation) of
the Deity. The Pranapratishtha, i.e. Mahakumbhabhisheka, of Lord
Mahakala-Bhairava was performed on 6th March 2008. The
significance of this Pooja is to worship the 8 aspects (Ashtangana)
of Lord Mahakala-Bhairava. Swami Vishveshwarananda
Saraswati, Swami Satchidananda, Kumari Somashekhari, Ashram
devotees, guests and visitors attended and graced the occasion.
Pandit
Shri Suresh Joshiji, the Chief Priest of Omkarananda Ashram
Himalayas, was instrumental in performing the Pooja, Hawana and
Abhisheka for Lord Mahakala-Bhairava, along with Sanjay and
Krishna Panditji. This wonderful ceremony added to the holy,
peaceful and joyous atmosphere of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.

National Youth Integration Camp, Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh
26th April 2008
From 23rd April to 30th April 2008 a National
Youth Integration Camp was conducted under the leadership of the
famous and highly learned Dr. S.N. Subba Rao, in Rishikesh, in
which about 300 young enthusiastic participants from all States of
India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Assam, took
part.
In the evening of 26th April 2008, a beautiful
Cultural Program was performed by the young participants of this
Camp at the holy Ganga, Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh.
Dance and
music-performances by groups from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala,
Karnataka, Bihar, etc. delighted the audience.
Guest of
Honour was Shri Deep Sharma, Chairman, Nagarpalika, Rishikesh.
Special
Chief Guest of this function was Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda
Saraswati, President, Omkarananda Ashram, who appreciated the
works done by Dr. Subba Rao for National Integration. Swamiji also
congratulated the young artists of all States for their beautiful
cultural performances. Swami Vishveshwaranandaji gave special
Thanks to Prof. D.K. Varshney, Principal of Sheetal College of
Biomedical Science, who had organized the whole programme.
Swamiji's encouraging and fiery speech was reciprocated by all
young participants and the audience with thunderous applause.
In between the cultural programmes, at Sandhya-time, a special
Ganga Arati was conducted in which Swami Vishveshwarananda, Kumari
Somashekhari, Dr. Subba Rao and others could participate.
At the conclusion of this wonderful Function Kumari Somashekhari
was requested to sing a song. To the surprise of the audience she
sang a Bhajan in Garhwali language on behalf of the Uttarakhand
State, which touched the hearts of the people, attending the
function.
Shri R.D. Gaur, Member of Omkarananda Educational
Society, also took part in this great event.
Blood Donation Camp
Omkarananda Institute of Management & Technology

Business ethics being part of Management
studies, OIMT students are engaged in social responsibility
projects during the course of their studies in the Institute.
A
grand Blood Donation Camp was held on April 28 in the Institute,
in collaboration with Himalayan Hospital Trust, Swami Ram Nagar,
Deemed Medical University of Uttarakhand.
This great event
was preceded by an awareness-rally of OIMT-Students and Faculty in
the holy town of Rishikesh.
The
main-ceremony started at 10:00 am at the grand pandal in the
Institute. Students, Faculty, Staff and local Dignitaries attended
the function.
The Chief-guest, Honorable Minister Shri
Matbar Singh Kandari, in the august presence of Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj, President Omkarananda Ashram, lighted
the lamp as a mark of the auspicious beginning of this noble
mission i.e… "Yajna".
His
Holiness Swami Vishveshwaranandaji welcomed and honoured with
garland and shawl the Chief-guest Shri Matbar Singh Kandari,
Cabinet Minister for Irrigation and Drinking Water, Uttarakhand.
He praised him for his exemplary character and for being punctual
to reach the Institute in time.
The Chief-guest was given
a big applause for joining this great cause and also inspiring
everyone to do his part for this noble mission.
Mr. Kandari
in his inaugural speech exhorted the students, staff, faculty and
others to participate in this great "Yajna" and said that the
Blood donation is one of the greatest of gifts, such as land
donation, "Bhoomi Dan", "Kanya Dan" etc. The Minister further
said, that Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, with the blessings of His
Master, Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, is doing a great
service to the mankind for the poor and sick and needy. His
contribution towards education is remarkable. He was so much
overwhelmed with appreciation for Swamiji that he expressed his
heartfelt gratitude to Swamiji saying "Swamiji you are my Guru. I
am your disciple. I say my pranam to you. I am a public servant.
You have given me inspiration to serve the people." With folded
hands he bowed before Swamiji and prayed and expressed his
gratitude.
The Minister was further overwhelmed with joy to
see the infrastructure of the Institute, the huge Computer Lab and
Library and further requested Swamiji to open a school in his
constituency in the Hills, also.
The other dignitaries
present in the occasion were Ex Chairman, Shri Uttam Singh Rana,
President Lions Club, Shri Gopal Narang, Shri Sanjeev Goyal,
prominent business Magnate of Rishikesh, Shri Sanat Shastri,
Secretary Uttarakhand Congress Committee and others. Shri Mahaveer
Singh Negi, Secretary, OIMT, welcomed the Chief-guest and other
distinguished guests and medical staff, Doctors of Himalayan
Hospital and lab.
Dr. S.N. Banerjee, Director OIMT, in his
welcome address, presented the report of the Institute,
highlighting its various activities such as Blood donation camp,
awareness rally, rural development projects, placement
opportunities for the students of the Institute and other various
projects and progress report of the Institute. He further
highlighted the teachings of Swami Omkaranandaji Maharaj, the
Founder of the Institute, whose blessings have blossomed into this
gigantic Institute which is taking further leaps towards its goal
of excellence.
Principal I.D. Joshi welcomed the
Chief-guest and other distinguished guests and again pointed out
the ideal of punctuality, the Minister kept himself by coming in
time, his nobility of heart and his other human qualities, which
are worth emulating.
He prayed and paid his homage to Swami
Omkaranandaji Maharaj, the Founder of the Institute, who gave to
us all His most loving, dedicated and hardworking Saint,
educationist Swami Vishveshwarananda, who fulfilled His mission to
serve the poor and sick, who set up a network of Schools in the
Garhwal region of Uttarakhand and above all, the Centres of
excellence at Rishikesh, Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter
College and Omkarananda Institute of Management & Technology. For
all this Swami Vishveshwarananda has been honored with the
prestigious Award "Pride of Uttarakhand" by the most prestigious
society of Dehradun, Doon Citizens Council, and he also was
awarded and honoured at New Delhi by Indian Schools Federation of
India. Principal Joshi further said, Swamiji lives like a Saint,
works like a Giant and thinks like a Genius…i.e. practically
following the teachings of his Guru Paramahamsa Swami Omkarananda
Saraswati.
The
other honorable distinguished Guest was Shri Balbir Singh, M.L.A.,
Ex Minister, who was welcomed and honored with garlands and shawl
by Swami Vishveshwarananda and Director, Faculty and Management.
He too was overwhelmed with joy to see the success of this
camp. He visited the camp site where the blood donation was being
done and thanked Swamiji and others for having done such a noble
deed.
Nearly all students, staff, faculty donated blood.
Our
energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic Director, Dr. S.N. Banerjee
himself, donated his blood, as he felt it was everyone's duty to
think for others.
