Annual
Function of Omkarananda Saraswati
Govt. Degree College,
Devprayag
The annual
function 2004-2005 of Omkarananda Saraswati Govt. Degree College, was celebrated
on 12th March 2005, with the lighting of auspicious 'Deep' in the College
auditorium hall. The programme was conducted by Dr. A.K. Naithani of Hindi Dept.
of the College. Present on the occasion were Shri Joshi, S.D.M. Devprayag, Shri
Chiranjilal, a local congress leader, Shri Pathak, Principal of the College.
Shri K.N. Kothiyal and R.S. Rawat represented the Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
on the eve. The main highlights of the function was the prize distribution with
certificates to the participant boys and girls in the events like Essay
Competition, Singing of National Anthem, Rendering of Gazals, Poetry and
Garhwali folk-songs including sports events. The girls outshone the boys in the
receipt of prizes.

One Km. Asha
Kotiyal of B.A. Part II bagged most of the prizes. The distinguished guests
praised the students for their interest in the extra-curricular activities and
at the same time keeping pace in their studies. Shri K.N.Kothiyal and Shri R.S.
Rawat both applauded the efforts of the College authorities to arrange annual
function in a mammoth way within its limited time and resources. They conveyed
on behalf of Swami Vishweshwarananda Saraswatiji, President of Swami Omkarananda
Saraswati Charitable Trust, all the good wishes to the students for their bright
future.

Seminar
under the Auspices of Omkarananda
Institute of Management & Technology
Under the auspices of
Omkarananda Institute of Management Technology and Computer Society of India a
one day Seminar "Emerging Computing Trends in I.T." was held in Omkarananda
Vidya Bhawan, Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-reti, Rishikesh. Speakers
from various organisations shared their views on the new techniques in the field
of Information Technology. The Seminar was inaugurated by Swami
Vishweshwaranandaji by lighting the Deepa and the Guru-Vandana of Km.
Somashekhariji.
Chief Guest of the Seminar, Dr. P.K. Mittal, General Manager, O.N.G.C. Dehradun,
explained the usage of Information Technology in the complete working of the
company and storage of important data. He also explained how specialists find
important natural resources with the help of satellite images. Dr. Mittal is the
present Chairman of Computer Society of India, Dehradun.
Five speakers presented their research papers in this seminar. Dr. R.M. Bhatt,
Head of Dept., Computer Science, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University,
Shrinagar, gave a speech on cyber crime, saying how people for just a few rupees
are misusing this technology. Dr. Bhatt also described how cyber-criminals can
break into the database of a bank. He said that most of the cyber-criminals in
the world are children below sixteen years who unknowingly or out of curiosity
do this type of work. He also gave some important tips to the students how to
escape from cyber crimes and protect data from cyber criminals. Dr. Bhatt is
also the Vice-Chairman of Computer Society of India, Dehradun.
Dr. T.C. Mohan, O.N.G.C. Dehradun, disclosed the secrets of data security and
the qualities of operating systems. Dr. Smt. H.B. Sharma, Chief Chemist, O.N.G.C.,
explained the usage of information technology in chemist data management. She
has shown how I.T. is playing a key role in the chemical lab.

Mr. V.P. Singh, former
Ambassador of India, emphasised on making more use of Hindi fonts in computers.
He also showed his own fonts, which he has developed for the Web.
Pramod Uniyal and Vikram Kapoor of O.I.M.T. supported the expansion of the
Internet for the benefit of the common man. They said that the Internet, in
addition to English, should be available in Hindi and other regional languages
also. They gave the students a live demonstration of embedding a desired font on
a website.
On the conclusion of the Seminar Swami Vishweshwaranandaji Maharaj thanked all
the guests and said that this kind of programmes can help students a lot in
understanding the latest threats and their counter measures. He expressed that
while information technology should be made available to all, its misuse has to
be avoided. Swami Vishweshwaranandaji and Dr. P.K. Mittal gave the certificates
to all the students.
Km. Somashekhariji compelled to sway the audience with her dance and Garhwali
folk song. She said that she has affection for Indian dance and music and she
wants it to spread in the whole world. Km. Somashekhariji is the Director of
Omkarananda Saraswati Natya Kala Academy, Rishikesh, through which many students
are benefitted.
More than 150 students from various institutes were attending the Seminar. Shri
Mahavir Singh Negi, Secretary, Dr. H.L. Gulati, Director and Prof. Gulab Singh
of Omkarananda Institute of Management & Technology had extended their
cooperation in organising this Seminar.
Pankaj Bijalwan, Speaker, Marketing, guided the audience through the Seminar and
the technical support was by Narendra Pawar. The students of Omkarananda
Institute of Management & Technology gave their full support in making the
Seminar a grand success. On the occasion were present Dr. S.P. Kala, Head of
Dept., Management Studies, Garhwal University, Dr. Rohella and Reporters from
various newspapers and electronic media.

Shri Omkarananda Kamakshi-Devi Mandir
The exquisite
Shri-Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
Muni-ki-reti, celebrated its first anniversary "Bramha-Mahotsava" on 24th and
25th March 2005, elaborately with full dignity and colour. Three learned Pandits
of renowned Kancheepuram, Pt. Suresh Shastri, Pt. Murali Shastri and Pt. Baddu
Shastri, were specially invited by Swami Vishweshwaranandaji, President of
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, to conduct this holy ceremony meticulously. A
large number of devotees and invitees were present on both the days
to witness this religious function at the Temple premises.
24th March 2005:

Ganapati Navagraha Kalasha Sthapana

The auspicious rituals began in
the morning of 24th March 2005 at 7.30 a.m. with 'Ganapati Navagraha Kalasha
Sthapana' in which the holy Kalasha was installed with chanting of hymns. It was
followed by 'Ganapati Avahana Puja' where the Deity was invoked to bless the
ceremony.

Subsequently, 'Ganapati Navagraha Yajna' was conducted in the Yajnashala of the
temple premises in which Swami Vishweshwaranandaji, Swami Satchidanandaji and
Km. Somashekhari offered the Ahutis to the Deities. The last ritual was
'Ganapati Abhishekam' by the priests. The morning programme concluded with Arati,
Bhog and distribution of Prasadam.

In the evening,
'Sahasra-Kalasha-Sthapana' was arranged in which 1000 holy Kalashas were
dedicated to Shri-Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi and to all the Deities
Shri-Meenakshi, Shri-Chamundi, etc. installed in the temple. Simultaneously,
Kalasha and Devi Puja was conducted by the priests. The ceremony started at 7.30
p.m. and continued upto 10 p.m.

The day's ceremony began at
7.30 a.m. with 'Nava-avarana Yajna' for Shri-Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi.
Consequently, Swami Vishweshwaranandaji and Kumari Somashekhariji performed
'Yajnas' dedicated to all the Deities of the Temple. They also performed a
special 'Lalita-Sahasra-Namavali-Yajna' in this occasion. Yajnas continued up to
10 a.m. in the morning.

After that, 'All-Deities -
Abhishekam' was conducted by the priests and was followed with
'Sahasra-Kalasha-Mahabhishekam' of Shri-Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi. At the end,
the temple priests - Pt. Suresh Joshi, Pt. Sanjay Shastri and Pt. Jagdish
Shastri performed Arati and Bhog ceremony which ended at 1.00 p.m. in the
afternoon.

Prasadam was distributed to all
the devotees present.
The concluding ceremony of this holy Mahotsava commenced at 8.30 p.m. in the
evening with Shri-Kamakshi-Navavarana Puja and Arati by the priests which
continued upto 10.00 p.m. in the night.
