Omkarananda Ashram Videos

"The Song of the Sannyasi" Rare Video of Speech by Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, translated into German by Prof. Eleonore Lauterborn, played for all devotees and guests, on 25.12.2012, on the occasion of Omkarananda Jayanti Celebration, in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-reti, Rishikesh, India. Here is the Text of the Speech by Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati: Read more.

"Everywhere is God! Everything is God! He is eternal! He is indestructible! He is all-perfect! He is all-beautiful! He is the Music of music! He is the Quintessence of Rhythm! The whole in creation is a splendid Dance of Divine Consciousness! There is nowhere in the Bible the concept of God as a Dancer. But the Swami is one, whose God is a Dancer, whose God is a Musician, Poet of poets, supreme Kavi, the supreme Poet! He is Beauty of beauties, Quintessence of all Joy! He is the Light of lights, internal Light, the Light of Consciousness, the external Light! He is the Light of every form and kind! He is boundless Light. His nature is Light. His nature is Joy. His nature is unlimited and eternal. A Swami is one, who is established in the Consciousness of himself as infinite Happiness, in all conditions. It may be terrifying outer conditions. You may cut my hand, my body will be bleeding, yet you will see no change on my face. Examine me in all conditions of life! A Swami is a Hero! He is the greatest adventurer, one who has conquered nature, one who is superior to all modes of nature! Time, space and circumstance have no influence on him. He is established in unconditioned Happiness, eternal Happiness, unending Happiness, undivided Happiness. His heart sings in this manner:

Chidanand Chidanand Chidananda Hun,
Har Hal Men Har Mast Satchidananda Hun!

(In all conditions I am infinite Existence-Consciousness-Bliss!)

This is the song of the Sannyasi. His heart is always singing that. He says, his heart says, his experience says - in summer's sun, in winter's cold, in the cold of the Himalayas, in the hot mid-summer sun in the deserts, in all situations, He is in Supreme Happiness - :

Satchidanand Satchidanand Satchidananda Hun,
Har Hal Men Har Mast Satchidananda Hun!

So says that man, haben Sie verstanden? (Have you understood?) "

(Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati)

Maha-Shivaratri Celebrations in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-Reti, via Rishikesh,
Uttarakhand, India, on 18th February 2023. Bharatanatyam Temple-Dances by Kumari Somashekhari
and Blessings and Divine Speech by Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati,
President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas. Master of Ceremonies: Dr. Anupam Vaid, Trustee
Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas. Script for Master of Ceremonies was written by Kumari Somashekhari, General Secretary Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, and Indian Classical Dancer & Musician. OM.

During conclusion of Omkarananda Mahotsava, on 31. December 2021, Kumari Somashekhari danced in Honour of her Adorable Sadgurudev Shri Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati to an ancient Tamil-Hymn by Shri Aandaal, "Maargazhi Thingal", in the Vedic Gurukul of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, the Omkarananda Gayatri Ved Vidyalaya, at the holy Ganga. Dance-Choreography is by Kumari Somashekhari. Short Vote of Thanks by Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, at the end of the Video.

Script for Master of Ceremonies with explanations about the dance, etc., was written by Kumari Somashekhari, General Secretary Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas and Indian Classical Dancer & Musician and read out by Prof. Dr. Apurvaa Trivedi:  "About 5000 years ago a great Saint-Poetess lived in today's Tamil Nadu, in Shrivilliputhur, near Madurai, who is regarded and worshipped as an Avataara of Bhumi Devi or Lakshmi Devi. Her name is Aandaal. She belongs to the greatest Worshippers of Lord Narayana, Lord Vishnu or Krishna. She had so much divine love for Lord Narayana, that she fiercely refused to marry a human being. When she was a very, very beautiful girl and only 15 years old, Lord Narayana Himself appeared to Priests in the dream and ordered them to arrange Aandaal's spiritual marriage with Him. When Aandaal entered the Vishnu-Temple, where her divine marriage was arranged, she ran with great joy and ecstasy into the Garbha Griha, the Sanctum Sanctorum, and in a miraculous way merged with the Vishnu Murti and disappeared for ever from the physical plane. In the following You can see a dance to one of Aandaal's original, devotional songs, in which Aandaal calls her lovely Sakhis, her lovely maiden friends, to come with her to the river to worship Lord Krishna or Lord Narayana, in order to obtain worldly fame, prosperity and also Immortality.

In this song Aandaal describes a beautiful moonlit time in the holy month of Maargazhi, which usually lasts from 14. December to 14. January. She further describes  Lord Krishna's divine Beauty and mighty divine Powers to her friends.

After learning to sing and fully understand the meaning of Shri Aandaal's song, Kumari Somashekhari choreographed a dance to it, which she presents in Honour of Her adorable Sadgurudev Shri Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, the born Sage, Mystic, Genius, Philosopher and Writer and Sampurna or Complete Avataara, Who appeared on earth in the auspicious month of Maargazhi. OM"

Full Moon Temple Program, on 18th December 2021, in Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir, Omkarananda Saraswati Marg, Muni-ki-reti, via Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India. In this special Video can be seen:

1. Maiden performance - first ever Solo Dance-performance - by Kumari Arpita, Dance-student of Kumari Somashekhari. Kumari Arpita learns Indian Classical Dance from Kumari Somashekhari, in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, since beginning of November 2021.  Before starting her dance, Kumari Arpita offers flowers in front of the Garbha Griha, the Sanctum Sanctorum of Shri Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi.  She then performs "Jagadambike", a heart-touching Devi Dance. Dance-Choreography and costume-design is by Kumari Somashekhari.

2. Glimpses of Bharatanatyam Temple-Dance "Melaprapti", by Kumari Somashekhari. Dance-Choreography and Nattuvangam are by Somashekhari’s Bharatanatyam Guru Shri Deepak Mazumdar, Mumbai.

3. "Aandaal, Maargazhi Thingal", danced by Kumari Somashekhari. First Kumari Somashekhari learned to sing that famous ancient devotional Tamil song and then, after making a lot of research, Kumari Somashekhari choreographed herself a classical dance to it, in order to express the meaning of Goddess Aandaal’s devotional song as exactly and as clearly as possible. Since this special Full Moon, on 18. December 2021, occurred in the auspicious month of "Maargazhi", a Tamil month, which usually starts from 14. December and completes on 14. January, this Temple-Dance was very appropriate for the occasion.

4. Special Divine Blessings by Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, on this holy Full Moon Temple-Program, where Swamiji generously encourages all active participants of this Function and beautifully explains the highly divine and mystical aspect of real devotional Indian Classical Dance. Swami Vishveshwaranandaji also nicely describes for the North Indian Devotees the inspiring life-story of the great Goddess and Saint-Poetess, Shri Aandaal, who lived ca. 5000 years ago, in today's Tamil Nadu, in South India.

5. Note: It was a little "sacrifice" for all participants in this special Full-Moon Temple-Program to be present there, outside, in the open Temple-Hall, in the very cold night, when the temperature had gone down to 5 Degree Celsius only. OM

“The Secret of Achievement in Life” Recorded Speech by H.D. Shri Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, played for all Devotees and Guests, on 25th December 2020, on the Occasion of Omkarananda Jayanti Celebrations, in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-reti, via Rishikesh, India. Here is the text of the speech: Read more.

OM !

The Secret of Success in anything lies in total concentration on that thing.
For instance, if you have taken up a work, you must be so completely concentrated in this work, that you have no knowledge of the environment, no knowledge of anything! You have to be completely absorbed in it! It must arrest your whole attention and demand the function and employment to the optimum of all your inner powers.
If you take up a work, you must do it with all the heart and soul, with the ganze ("ganze" = German for English "whole") strength of the will. Then what happens is, in this situation, if somebody asks you: "What is the day?" You don't know. "Did you take food?" You don't know. "Did you have your tea?" You don't know. "What is the time?" You don't know. "How many people were around you just now?" You don't know. "What have you heard? They were making so much of noise." "I don't know".
In this state you would be.
So, this development, this absorption in your work and doing your work to your perfect perfection - you see - with total concentration, this developed ability you can later on transfer to your spiritual field.
Thereafter, if you are meditating on God or doing a God-work, then you would be so totally absorbed, that you become identical with the very Presence and Nature of God. You will transcend time- and space-limitations.
A great artist, a great thinker, an original, a genius, and so on, they also, momentarily, for a fleeting moment, transcend space-time consciousness. They are totally absorbed. They become identical with the field, which they are exploring, or the subject they are studying, or the thing they are artistically or scientifically creating, und ("und" = German for English "and") so on.
So, also with the ordinary work, if you give your whole heart to this work and do it with all the concentration of your heart and mind and soul and its powers or their powers, then you would be able to transfer this developed capacity of being above time and space and pursuing your subject with intensity, to the spiritual field, when you get into the spiritual field, or to God, when you shift your activity to the divine field.
That is the Secret of Achievement in Life:
Total devotion to one's work, taking work as an art, as a discipline, as a means for unfolding inner capacities, hidden qualities, higher qualities, nobler qualities, divine qualities und ("und" = German for English "and") so forth.
Efficiency in your work and a desire to achieve perfection in your work is essential in the preliminary stage.
Later on, these very things could be transferred to the spiritual world, to the world of God-experience.

OM !

Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
addresses a gathering of Sadhus in Omkarananda-Kamakshi-Devi Mandir.
Hindi translation by Kumari Somashekhari.

Recorded Speech by H.D. Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, played for all Devotees and Guests, on 25th December 2017, on the Occasion of Omkarananda Jayanti Celebrations, in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-reti, via Rishikesh, India. Here is the Text of the Speech by Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati: Read more.

No matter where you sit, you are sitting directly in the lap of the Divine. No matter where you stand, you are standing in the all-protecting hands of the Divine.

You possess intelligence, consciousness, you react to things, you react to somebody's calling you, you react to somebody praising you or describing you, when you are within the hearing of that person.

Infinitely so does the Divine Reality react to everything that is addressed to It, instantly. It is endless Intelligence, It is boundless Consciousness, everywhere present. It has Its ears behind you, before you, and so on. Whereas you don't have your ears behind you, before you, above you, everywhere, and therefore, if a person calls you from a great distance, you don't hear at all. Whereas the Divine is All-Intelligence, All-Consciousness, contains in Itself everything and everyone, surrounds everything and everyone by Its Intelligence, and what is more, It is the very Soul of the Intelligence in that person, in that thing.

And therefore, every repetition of any Mantra brings results, even if these results are not palpable, perceptible to your senses and powers of perception, now.

Always there is a response from the Divine. It is a mighty Light, in which we live, though you don't perceive this Light. When you perceive it, the moment you have experience of the Divine, then you begin to live in this grenzenlose, endlose, boundary-less Light, Presence, Perfection, Fullness.

Every Mantra that you repeat, every Hymn that you recite, automatically brings in results. It is heard by someone, who is supremely intelligent, supremely conscious.

Enrich your spiritual wealth by constant repetition of the Mantras and establish intimate relations with the Divine by constant reflection on your blood-relations with God. You are in God, you are as God. This relationship must be recovered in conscious experience, and that is the purpose of all Mantra-repetition and recitation of all Hymns. And every Hymn is powerful, the Vedic Hymns, the Vedic Mantras - all Mantras are very powerful and they are the very Soul of God, a part of God Himself.

OM Shri Mahatripurasundari Arpanam Astu.

"Devotion Works Wonders" Recorded Speech by H.D. Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, played for all Devotees and Guests, on 25th December 2016, on the Occasion of Omkarananda Jayanti Celebrations, in Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, Muni-ki-reti, via Rishikesh, India. Here is the Text of the Speech by Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati: Read more.

The Divinity being Love, Compassion, Grace, Beauty, Mother, can always hear your prayers, no matter, whether they are said silently or loudly, rightly or wrongly, provided it is a prayer of the heart.

The Divinity responds. The Supreme Reality, the Transcendent Reality, nameless, formless, timeless, spaceless, this Reality hears, sees, reacts.

It is present with everyone at the same time.

The Divinity can stand before - let us say, there are two million Mystics in the world, spread all over the world. At the same time the Divinity presents Itself to all the two million persons, as if every Mystic has the feeling that the Lord has appeared only to him and stood only before him at this time of 8 o'clock or 9 o'clock and so on. And then, but, it's not so. The fact is, the Lord is present with all the two million Mystics around the world at the same time, in the same form, and so on. Such possibilities are numberless for the Divinity.

The Divinity presents Itself, hears you, sees you, understands you, walks with you, speaks with you, eats from your hand, even though It does not need food. Devotion works wonders and makes the unmanifest Divine Reality manifest before you as a person, a personality, a presence you can feel, a person from whom you can demand services, with whom you can speak and who speaks back to you, and so on. So, such an intimate relation is established with the Divine Reality and thereafter you can speak about great Vedanta, transcendental philosophy, and so on.

But prior to that, the heart has to be filled with Devotion, divine Love, purified, uplifted. Without Devotion, divine Love, all knowledge is a waste and it does not carry conviction to the hearers. They find, it is intellectually wonderful, a wonderful structure, built up by the brain of man, but there is Soul missing in it.

The Soul comes into operation, manifests itself, the moment you develop Devotion, divine Love.

Cultivate intimate relations with God, always speak to Him, as your own Heart, as your own Soul, as the Life of your life, and so on.

The Divinity manifests Itself in extraordinary works.
Whoever does extraordinary work is earning something of the Grace of the Divine.
Something of the Light of the Divine shines through the extraordinary works done.
These extraordinary works have to be of necessity accompanied
by divine feelings, divine thoughts and surrendered to the Divine.
Such extraordinary works are the quickest means for God-realisation.
Extraordinary works means: impurities disappear automatically.
You have a mission and in this mission everything is forgotten.
You transcend the senses and sense activity in this absorption
in interesting and extraordinary work.
So, to that extent you are liberated, your heart is pure to that extent.
Therefore, selfless service and extraordinary service, selflessly done, purifies the heart very quickly.
Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita:
"Wherever there is an excellency in operation, there I'm present."
Everything wonderful, everything beautiful, everything marvellous, everything extraordinary
manifests something of His Light in a spectacular way and thus draws the human mind's attention
to the Divine, the Source of all Wonders, Splendours, Perfections, Powers, Personalities.

The True Lover of the Divine is always conscious of the Divine.
He sees the Divine, feels the Divine, hears the Divine, talks to the Divine,
walks with the Divine, feeds the Divine, bathes the Divine - and allows the
Divine Will and Wisdom to function through him.
This is the characteristic of a True Lover of the Divine. He is preoccupied with the Divine.
All his thoughts are absorbed in reflecting upon the immediate Presence of the Divine and
the Wonders that this Presence means to him: Wonder of every kind, Infinity of Knowledge,
Infinity of Beauty, Infinity of Joy, Sunshine and so weiter.
He is always devoted to the Divine.
He sleeps in the Divine, wakes up in the Divine, walks in the Divine,
walks with the Divine, and so forth.
The Divine dominates his thoughts and feelings. And the Divine in Its turn takes care
of his welfare. Everything that happens in his life, happens by the Will of the Divine
and is carried forward by the Wisdom of the Divine.
Every detail of his life is ruled, governed and determined by the Divine,
Its Will, Its Wisdom, Its Love, Its Beauty, Its Perfection.
One lives in the other and the other lives in one.
God lives consciously in the devotee and the devotee lives consciously in the Divine.
Try to be such a devotee of the Divine, always conscious of the immediate Presence,
all-observing Presence of the Divine.
Some person is always with you, whom you don't see, but who is seeing you,
whom you don't hear, but who is hearing you. This Person is the Divinity.
Be conscious of Him and your life becomes divine in all details, and in its totality.
Doubts, difficulties, change of mind, change of heart - in a human way - are
characteristic of persons, who are cut off from the Divine,
whose relations with the Divinity are not strong.
In order that relations with the Divine may be strong, we have to develop
constantly Wisdom, Purity, Selflessness, Goodness and impose on every sense
Disciplines of every kind, so that all the senses, all the energies,
all the potencies of our nature are totally transformed, sublimated,
made divine in character, function, nature, in self-expression.
So try to be rooted in the Divine always.
