This small village, called Jajal, is located on
an altitude of 1300 m, along the Rishikesh-Gangotri
Road. The nearby Kunjapuri Mandir provides a
holy place for worship.
The Omkarananda Saraswati Shishu Niketan, Jajal,
a Junior High School, is nestled in the
beautiful and peaceful valley of the Henval
River. The School is housed in a two-storey
whitewashed building.
The classrooms and School courtyard have a
magnificent view overlooking the valley, river
and terrace fields. It now runs classes from
Nursery to VIII and serves the people living
within a radius of 5 km, which means 1 hour
walk.
The School offers computer education which is a
fascinating field for the students. In outdoor
sports, the students play Kabaddi and Kho-Kho
and have achieved wonderful results in State
level competitions.
The School children get also special training in
dances and songs for different celebrations.
