"All is a Formation of
Light in Light", Speech by His Divinity Shri
Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, played for all
Devotees and Guests, on the Occasion of Omkarananda
Jayanti, 25th December 2022
OM
The true Lover of the Divine meditates upon the Purusha.
What is the Purusha? The Supreme Being. No father, no
mother, no brother.
He is not a man. Yet He is man, He is woman, He is in all
men and women.
Yet no woman and no man seems to know anything about Him,
except those, who have received the Grace of the Divine,
except those, who command a spiritual Vision, except
those, whose heart is pure, except those, who have
dedicated their lives to highest values, pursuit of
highest values.
Our object of meditation is the Supreme Reality, the
eternal Reality. And this Reality is not something weak,
fantasy, hallucination, a dream object, a dream creation,
imagination, suggestion, supposition, hypothesis.
It is the Reality of realities. It is that, what you sink
into in deep sleep state. It is the basis of all your
perception, feeling, experience, knowing.
This basis is infinite, eternal. That is the object of our
meditation. 24 hours, no matter what work we are doing, no
matter with whom we are talking, we are rooted in this
consciousness of the Timeless and the Eternal and the
Spaceless, just the same spaceless and timeless Being you
sink into in the deep sleep state.
This timeless and spaceless Being is the Purusha, the
Supreme Being. That is the object of our meditation. That
is the object of our knowledge.
"Tat purushaya vidmahe…" I know That, I understand That, I
experience That, I see That, ich wahrnehme Es. (= German
for „I perceive It") "…Mahadevaya dhimahi, tanno Rudrah
pracodayat." I meditate on the Supreme Being, the great
God.
What is God? Deva. Deva. This English word is no
equivalent to the real Sanskrit word Deva. God is always
Light and therefore it is Deva, Devi, Diva - LIGHT.
God is always Light, He is endless Light. Nature of
Consciousness and Existence is Light, and Nature of
Consciousness and Existence is Joy. Nature of
Consciousness and Existence is Peace. All these you
experience in deep sleep state. It is timeless, it is
all-independent Happiness. This all-independent Happiness
you also experience in deep sleep state.
On this Being we meditate and may this Being illuminate
us.
And this Being is everything in creation and is
transcendent of creation all the time. No matter which
world you are referring to: Heaven, then He transcends
Heaven by ten fingers, that means, infinitely,
unimaginably. He transcends everything that is manifest,
even though He is in the manifestation. A part of His
Being is in the manifestation, that is to say, in the
unmanifest Being there is a manifestation. And this
manifestation is itself carrying and made possible on the
Transcendent.
The Transcendent, the Unmanifest, is always there. That
Purusha we meditate upon. That is Devi, the Divine Mother.
That is Mahadeva, the Divine Father. That is Mahavishnu,
the Indweller. Vishnu - one who dwells in all beings.
Narayani - that which is indwelling all human beings.
What is indwelling all beings? Not thoughts and feelings,
these are common everywhere, they are perishable, they are
passing, they are changing, they are not Reality, they are
appearances, they are the cause for discord, disharmony,
as you experience every day in your daily life. The moment
you sleep, all discordance, disharmonies, created by the
existence of thoughts and their functions, is lost, is
gone, transcended, is overcome.
This Supreme Reality is the object of our meditation.
This is Shiva. It is supremely auspicious, It is supremely
peaceful, It is supremely blissful, It is supreme
Blessedness. Shiva means Blessedness, Supreme Blessedness.
This Supreme Blessedness, which is the Kingdom of Heaven
of Kingdom of Heaven, the Quintessence of the Kingdom of
Heaven, is Shiva, Narayani, Devi, Shive, and so weiter (=
German for: "so on"). That is the object of our
meditation. In this Consciousness we are rooted.
And when you are rooted in this Consciousness, it becomes
a sin to see a human being as a human being, a sin to see
a tree as a tree, mud as mud, earth as earth, time as
time, and so on.
At this stage, you begin to see in the human individual,
the Transcendence, the Timeless, the Nameless, the
Formless, the All-Perfect, the All-Fulfilling.
In the trees, you will discover the transcendent
Dimension, the Consciousness, Light.
All is a Light-formation, a formation of Light in Light.
