Speech by Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati,
President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
on the Occasion of Sadhu Bhandara
in Honour of Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati,
on 29th December 2019 (OMKARANANDA MAHOTSAVA)

My heartfelt Adorations to the omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient Divinity in all of your hearts!

My heart is filled with joy and happiness to be in the presence of such marvellous and wonderful Saints over here. There is no greater joy than to be present with such wonderful great Souls, who are sitting here.

To touch the feet of the Lord is to cross the ocean of Samsara.

Spirituality is the Essence of life. Without Spirituality we are completely lost. The Saints are the bearer of the Divine, the Saints, who have the given up the worldly life and who are completely close to the Divinity.

It is not an easy life for a person to give up that entire worldly life, their wealth, their riches and everything and to join the beauty of a Sadhu life. If our life is finally not centred towards the Truth, towards the Divine, the life is lost.

What is a life without spiritual thinking? The Lord has given us the life for Realisation. The Lord has given us the life to come back to Him. We have to realise that we are not the body, but we have to realise that we are the true Self. If our true Self is realised, we are a Jnani and we have to become a Jnani. India is full of the power of such great Rishis and divine Saints, from Vivekananda, from Ramakrishna, from Ramana Maharishi, to Gurudev Swami Omkarananda, all the greatest people.

Unfortunately, the common man is completely bound and lives in delusion. Desires and attachment have filled the hearts of most of the people. Where there is desire and where there is attachment, there is no Lord.

Life is very short. If we cannot realise the Truth in this life, we have to come again. And this is the reason why I appreciate all of you, you have done the biggest step in leaving the world behind. Since you have left the world behind, the Lord has come to you. Joy and happiness will be constantly with you. Wherever you go, you will be a shining Light. People will seek your presence, people will like to be with you, that is the Greatness of the Saints and Sages, who are sitting here.

Great is the glory of the Divine! Great is the glory of our Paramahamsa Shri Swami Omkarananda, who has given us all these wonderful Temples, Schools and has given us these great Saints who are here!

India is one of the most beautiful countries, one of the most spiritual countries. The Rishis have given us everything what is needed to experience the Truth. But unfortunately, the world is also living to a great extent in deep delusion. Greed has taken over possession in us. We are striving for worldly things here. All the worldly things are a matter of decay.

There is only one thing which counts, and that is the Realisation of the Truth. Whoever has the touch of the Divine will definitely become a guiding personality wherever he goes. Saints, Liberation is what we are searching for! World is very dangerous. If we are not constantly thinking of the Divine in form of prayers and meditation, we can enter easily a wrong way. Whatsoever we look for, but true Happiness and Joy can never be found in any worldly thing, except in true Realisation of the Divine Truth.

The Lord is waiting for us, but we have no time, because we are engaged in politics, we are engaged in talking, in nonsense and we are wasting the time. India is blessed and strong with the power of the Saints, the Sages and the Sadhus and the Swamis who are sitting over here.

I am thankful to these wonderful Musicians. They have created a heaven, a heaven on earth; and I am thankful to our great Educationists Joshiji and Varshneyji for having a few words.

Once again, I bow my head to Your holy Feet, for coming here and blessing all of us. I thank my Guru sister for the nice translation.
