Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, being honoured by Senior
Citizen Welfare Organization, Rishikesh, on 21st June
2019

On 21st June 2019 a special Delegation
of the Senior Citizen Welfare Organization, Rishikesh,
namely its President, Dr. Harish Dhingra, its General
Secretary Shri P.D. Agarwal and its Deputy General
Secretary Shri S.P. Agarwal, along with Shri I. D. Joshi,
Member and Chief-Editor of "Darpan 2019", the
newly released Magazine of the Senior Citizen Welfare
Organization, Rishikesh, paid a visit to the Head-Quarters
of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas.
The Senior Citizen Welfare
Organization of Rishikesh is a noble Organisation,
consisting of more than 540 Members, who are actively
engaged in different social services.
This Organization has completed a
working period of 22 years. They have a Working Committee,
which is elected every two years, and they publish a
Magazine, in which various activities, and special events,
performed during the 2-year working period, are presented.
This year, their 118 Pages colourful Magazine, along with
interesting articles, was officially released on 13th May
2019, by its Chief-Editor, Shri I.D. Joshi, Senior
Educationist and former Principal, Shri Bharat Mandir
Inter-College, Rishikesh.
Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati
and Kumari Somashekhari heartily welcomed all Delegates of
the Senior Citizen Welfare Organization, Rishikesh.
Dr. Harish Dhingra, Shri I.D. Joshi
and others first of all expressed their Gratitude to
Mahant Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda for his Blessings and
goodwill message, published in the new edition of their
Magazine and presented him a copy of it.
Shri S.P. Agarwal, Deputy General
Secretary, read out a citation, highlighting the
educational services of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas
through its many Schools, Colleges and Institutes in the
area of Rishikesh / Muni-ki-Reti and also in faraway
Himalayan Hill areas.
He further pointed out the
contribution of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas towards the
dissemination of the Vedic Culture through its various
activities like the Ashram's Gurukul, Omkarananda Gayatri
Ved Vidyalaya, the Omkarananda Natya Kala Academy, its
various Temples and Temple-Worships, printing and
distributing of spiritual Literature, Satsang for Devotees
in form of Divine and inspiring Speeches by Shri Swami
Vishveshwarananda and regular Performances of Indian
Classical Temple-Dance and Music by Kumari Somashekhari.
Shri Agarwalji expressed his special
Gratitude and Admiration on behalf of all Senior Citizens
of Rishikesh to Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji and Kumari
Somashekhari for their broad vision and commitment to
enhance Quality Education in the Garhwal Himalayas.
He further emphasized, that all
Members of the Senior Citizen Welfare Organisation,
Rishikesh, want to honour Swamiji for his remarkable
contribution towards the Education of the masses in the
area of Rishikesh and the hilly regions of Uttarakhand.
Agarwalji read out another citation,
appreciating Kumari Somashekhari's achievements in Indian
Classical Dance and Music, Indian Languages and Vedic
Sanskrit.

Somashekhari were presented with nice flower-bouquets and
garlanded with an Angavastram (scarf).
Then came the great moment, when Dr.
Harish Dhingra and other Delegates honoured Shri Swami
Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President, Omkarananda Ashram
Himalayas, with the "SHIKSHA SHIROMANI AWARD
for excellence in the field of Education and Vedic
Culture",
and Kumari Somashekhari, General Secretary Omkarananda
Ashram Himalayas, with the "BHARATIYA
SHASTRIYA NRITYA SHIROMANI AWARD for excellence in Indian
Classical Temple Dance and Vedic Culture".
Thanking the Delegates, Shri Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji simply said, that it is only due to
the Grace of H.D. Shri Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati,
that Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas is performing such
excellent works in various fields.
Shri Swami Satchidananda Saraswati,
the Treasurer of Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas, also was
there during this occasion. The Senior Citizens presented
him with a special gift for his noteworthy services to the
Ashram and its many Institutions.
With respectful Pranams and Regards
the Senior Citizens thanked Swami Vishveshwarananda again
for his great services, while Swamiji blessed them all
with Rudraksha Malas and Jnana Prasad - a packet of
spiritual literature, containing the Ashram's Magazine
"Vidya Prabodhini" and other publications with divine
Wisdom and information on the Activities of Omkarananda
Ashram Himalayas.
Thus, the short, but memorable event
left a deep impression in the Hearts of one and all.
