Farewell for Class 12 Students
of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College,
Muni-ki-reti, 19th February 2011

On the 19th of February 2011, the students of class XII were given a formal Farewell by the students and teachers of the school. On this occasion revered Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj, President Omkarananda Ashram, was present to bless the students. The parents of the outgoing batch also attended the function.

The day began with the lighting of the lamp by revered Swamiji and the School Choir sang the famous lines of the Shloka - 'Asato ma Sad gamaya…' "Lead us from untruth to Truth..." An aura of Divinity was created by the chanting of the Hymns and Saraswati Vandana was sung to invoke the Blessings of Goddess Saraswati. A traditional Hawana was performed by the Ashramites to purify the atmosphere and to bless the students for their future endeavour. Even students appearing for their ICSE examination participated in the Hawana. Later Prasadam was distributed to all present there.

A number of students spoke and became nostalgic when they talked about the happy and carefree days that they have spent in the school. The School Captain, Gargi Gairola, said that the school is like a family and "a Home away from Home" in true sense. Dr. A. Gairola (Father of Gargi Gairola) said that the School is like a Temple and the Teachers are like God and respecting the teachers, parents and elders will take the students to a very high level. He appreciated the Principal and the Teachers for the exposure given to the students in the National and the International events which enhances the overall personality of the students.

The School Vice-Captain, Deepali Agarwal, said that the love and care she has received from the Teachers are incomparable. Another student, Parikshit Singh Rawat, said that he has spent the best time of his life in Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam and remembered the childhood days spent with his best friends here. He also spoke about the contribution of the different Teachers in grooming his personality.
Anubhuti Dhyani said that she has studied in three different schools but found this school, Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam, to be the best. She found the teachers here very helpful and easily approachable to discuss any problem.

Mrs. Ratna Gaur (Mother of Anamika Gaur) said that the children are lucky to study in this school and appreciated the strict discipline and administration of the school which ultimately would take the students and the school to higher and higher levels.

Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj, in his speech, appreciated student Parikshit's oratory skill. He told to the students, that there is no gain without pain and all the duties should be carried out peacefully, honestly and sincerely. He said that one should not be attached too much to outer luxury, otherwise these attachments to perishing things will only bring worries. He further advised the students to do good deeds, the result of which will come back to them one day. Swamiji also emphasized that one should never forget Gurudev Paramahamsa Omkarananda, thanks to whom so many students get excellent education.

At the end, the Principal Col. (Retd.) D.L. Sachdeva said that there were times when he was very strict with the students, but it was only for their betterment. He blessed the students for their future endeavours and asked them to be close to the spiritual culture.

Under the guidance of the Music teacher, Mrs. Sujata Banerjee, the School Choir recited a Geeta Shloka and sang a Bhajan "Gopal gokul…" They also presented a Song "hon har desh ke…"  to motivate the students for their future prospects. The entire programme was anchored by two students of class XI, Garima Gairola and Sonal Nagpal.

The Farewell Celebration was concluded by the lighting of the deepas by the students and they all sought the Blessings of Swamiji, Principal, Teachers and Parents.

Each student was presented a Bhagawad Gita and a Rudraksh by Swami Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj.
