Hoisting
of the National Flag by Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda. |
15th August, the Day of Independence, is a day of celebration all
across India. Our School also celebrates this National festival
with great pride and jubilation. To mark the significance of this
occasion, Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, along with other guests, came
and showered his blessings upon us. Before he was escorted to his
seat, the students of Nursery and K.G., with their little hands,
garlanded him. Meanwhile bouquets were presented to all other
dignitaries. They all looked very pleased by the affable smile of
the kids. The tricolour flag was hoisted by Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji and he was assisted by the guests along with
our Principal. This was followed by National Anthem sung in high
spirits. After the unfurling of the flag, the time for the much
awaited March-Past arrived.

Cultural programmes were presented by the children of all classes
on this auspicious occasion. To begin with, the school choir
presented a welcome song - 'Jaya Bharati, Jaya Vijaya Karien.'
This song was so beautiful that it filled the hearts with
patriotic fervor. Gargi Gairola, the Captain of our School, gave a
spellbinding speech in which she analyzed the contemporary
significance of Independence Day. This was followed by an action
song performed by the tiny tots. Their dance which was filled with
the innocence of a lamb, and their cuteness, along with their
performance, left everybody dumbstruck. The next performance, a
song by the Board classes, proved yet again that the future of our
country lies in safe hands.

This was followed by a folk dance of Punjab, i.e. Gidda. It was a
scintillating dance performance which took us through the various
regions of Punjab. The tinkling sound of the bangles, along with
the usual claps, amazed the audience to an extent that they all
started clapping along with it. A patriotic play was also enacted
by the students of class XI and XII. This play, written by Deepali
Aggarwal and Vaneesha Kandari, highlighted that women are no less
to men in physical prowess and they shouldn't be prevented from
serving their nation by aiming to become a soldier or an IPS.
This was followed by prize distribution to students who excelled
in academics in their respective classes. The song 'Sarfarohi
ki Tamanna...' reminded us that we should always pay respect to
the leaders who laid their lives for the sake of making their
motherland free.

Next a group dance, choreographed by Ajay Rawat, a student of
class XI, was performed. This performance was fabulous and it
raised our pent-up souls to stand and clap.
Again there was a prize distribution, but this time cash awards
were given to meritorious toppers of each class. The toppers of
ISC (Science): Anjali Rawat, ISC (Commerce): Anchal Garg and ICSE:
Siddharth Sahani were given due credit.
It was an honour for the school to felicitate Teachers Mr. K.N.
Uniyal and Mrs. Pushpa Singh by presenting a souvenir (a shawl) to
both of them.

A wonderful 'Krishna Leela' choreographed by our music teacher,
Mrs. Sujata Banerjee, was so rhythmic, that it would have been no
less to the dance of peacocks in the first shower of monsoon.
A speech was given by Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, President,
Omkarananda Ashram, which in detail explained the true meaning of
freedom. Our Principal Col. (Retd.) D.L. Sachdeva proposed his
vote of thanks to the Chief Guests, parents, the school staff and
the students.
At the end the whole congregation of students was given sweets,
and the guests were invited for a tea party.
